Sharif University of Technology Offers a Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from September, 2009

The program, taught in English, is designed for those graduates who wish to teach English to speakers of other languages, and those teachers who wish to improve their skills and learn about new developments in the field.

Program Details

The MA in TEFL covers a wide range of theoretical information such as: principles and methods of language teaching, needs analyses and goal setting, learning styles, classroom interaction, lesson planning, and syllabus design.

Program Goal
After the completion of this program, MA TEFL graduates will possess:
a knowledge of foreign language learning and teaching strategies
an understanding of the key concepts and theories which form the basis for language teaching
a good experience in applying theoretical knowledge to various teaching situations and settings
a knowledge of using a variety of assessment instruments
an effective pedagogical skill set
a superior cross-cultural and inter-cultural awareness

The master’s degree consists of fourteen 2-unit courses plus the thesis.

The degree program requires a minimum of 32 units. Core courses, including the thesis, provide 22 units, and the remaining 10 units will be chosen from elective courses.
